"Welcome to my on-line gallery. Through the various seasons of life, I have continually sought to explore my creativity. My artwork has evolved, fit into precious moments of time between teaching, work and family.

Currently I'm working in acrylic, pastel and watercolour, sometimes combined, and focusing on local landscapes and experiences. I enjoy walking the land with my husband, who is a keen outdoorsman, experiencing nature firsthand. Making sketches, taking reference photos and, when possible, plein air painting, I record and interpret the feel of the land. I am influenced by new ideas and experiences which I ponder and process, while my working methods adapt as I study, experiment and explore.

Recently, I've become more contemplative in my work as I reflect on my Mennonite heritage of faith. My art echoes this as a sense of life's deeper meaning and purpose impresses on me. The opportunity to personally experience this wonder fills me with gratitude as I feel inspired to share this story with my art.

Thank you for taking the time to visit. I hope you enjoy my visual interpretations of the land."

FALL Art Classes: September - November 2016

Art Classes for Children, Teens & Adults

‘Drawing for Fun'
12 week Course: Tuesdays, September 13 - November 29, 2016
Course Fee: $240.00, to be paid upon registration. Art Supplies extra.

This fun twelve week drawing course is designed for beginners or as a refresher course for intermediate students. Using popular sketching methods students will learn to see as an artist while enhancing their observation, memory and drawing speed.

Through simple warm-up exercises and numerous demonstrations you will gain confidence in your ability to draw and understand basic technical skills such as highlights, shadows, texture and perspective. Exploring a variety of interesting subject matter, students will learn the amazing visual effects possible using the simple art mediums of pencil, charcoal and ink.

This program is an excellent preliminary course to Marlene’s Spring Program on Colour, and her Drawing for Fun, Level 2.

The children’s program is based on high quality instruction within a safe and nurturing environment. Including drawing games and doodle-time, it is designed for children who already love to draw and for children who wish they could draw more effectively. Subjects include animals, buildings, still life and design.

As well as learning authentic drawing methods, your child will experience the support and affirmation of creating in an imaginative and inspirational setting with other like-minded students.
