ACRYLICS

inspired by my walks in the hills...

Many of these works are from my Okanagan Harmony Series which was inspired by my walks along the foothills of our Lake Country Spion Kopf Mountain. Ponderosa Pines silhouette the horizon and in the Springtime, numerous wild flowers and Saskatoon trees blossom with a view of Okanagan Lake in the background. A truly beautiful experience. But our little community is growing fast and with growth comes change. A large portion of this area is now being developed into a massive network of homes, condominiums and apartments. I sense an urgency to record the natural beauty of our land before it is gone.

The technique I use is called impasto, which means to apply paint thickly, resulting in a textured surface. I achieve this by using a palette knife and working very quickly before the paint can dry.

I started painting with acrylics in the 70's and continue to enjoy working with them today.
